Aftab Amin Poonawalla, accused in the horrifying Shraddha Walker murder case reportedly acknowledged to using marijuana that day.
According to Delhi police sources, during questioning the accused admitted to the police that he and Shraddha argued on May 18 over managing household costs and transporting some items from Mumbai to Delhi. According to the authorities, Aftab left his house after the altercation, smoked a marijuana cigarette, and then came back.
Sources stated “When he returned, Shraddha yelled at him once again. He then became enraged and aggressively strangled her till she stopped breathing.”
The accused, Aftab, allegedly smoked marijuana while sitting close to the deceased’s body the whole night. “The victim was strangled to death between 09:00 and 10:00 pm,” police confirmed.
As per reports, the accused has acknowledged to having a marijuana addiction and said he dumped some body parts in Dehradun as well.
However, official stated that the police are looking into the issue from all angles and suggested that accused may have released this information to trick the authorities.
The accused’s cutting tool has not yet been discovered by the police. According to the sources, the items that were seized from the residence have been submitted for forensic analysis.
After five days in jail, the accused Aftab Amin Poonawala was brought before Delhi court via video conference on Thursday. Court prolonged his police custody for an additional five days.
Aftab is suspected of killing Shraddha Walker, his live-in girlfriend, by strangling her and then dismembering her body into 35 parts. After Delhi police began looking into a missing person report submitted by Shraddha’s father Vikas Walker, he was taken into custody on Saturday.
