West Bengal Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari visited Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament on Tuesday.

The conference takes place against the backdrop of rapid political changes in West Bengal, which is governed by the Trinamool Congress. The ED raided the state following a huge recruiting fraud and collected crores in cash and kind.

MC politician Partha Chatterjee, who was a minister in the state administration at the time, was charged with corruption and detained. Following the raids, Mamata Banerjee’s administration was obliged to fire Chatterjee and replace her with new faces. Meanwhile, the BJP increased its criticism of the state administration. West Bengal BJP head and MP Sukanta Majumdar planned to meet with Home Minister Shah as well.

“There is something very important to intimate Amit Shah Ji about Bengal especially after the SSC scam that was recently busted. The Bengal people’s mindset has completely changed after the scam came to light. They have begun to believe that the Mamata Banerjee government has become completely corrupt and the government has no moral right to continue ruling,” Majumdar said.

When asked about the meeting’s time, the West Bengal BJP head said it will be chosen in light of Shah’s hectic schedule.

“He gives more importance to Bengal. Whenever MPs of Bengal go to him, he meets them. It is his love for Bengal. If we get the time, it will be great for us,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress attempted to retaliate against the BJP. It questioned why the Enforcement Directorate (ED) remained mute on the discovery of large amounts of undeclared cash from the car of Jharkhand Congress leaders.

The Congress and other opposition parties have charged that the BJP is attempting to destabilise Jharkhand’s JMM-Congress administration.

The TMC also urged that the participation of West Bengal Assembly Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari be investigated in light of the money’s seizure, citing his recent comment that “after Maharashtra, it would be Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.”

The West Bengal Police, acting on a tip, stopped an SUV carrying Congress MLAs from Jharkhand in Howrah on Saturday evening and reportedly discovered over half a crore rupees inside. They were formally detained on Sunday afternoon after being questioned.

The SUV carrying MLAs Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachchap, and Naman Bixal Kongari was stopped on National Highway-16 in the Panchla police station area.

In a tweet, the ruling Trinamool Congress referred to “murmurs of horse-trading and the possible toppling of the Jharkhand government”. Chief Minister and Trinamool boss Mamata Banerjee had recently accused the BJP of trying to force a change of government in Jharkhand after the recent change in Maharashtra.

Responding to the allegations made by Congress against the BJP, Union Minister Arjun Munda on Sunday said leaders of the Congress make allegations to hide their corrupt practices.
