Both President Draupadi Murmu and President Minister Narendra Modi conveyed congratulations to their counterparts on the occasion of Singapore’s National Day.
President Murmu congratulated President Halimah Yacob of Singapore in an official message, and she urged the two leaders to strengthen and broaden their bilateral relations in a number of areas, including trade, investment, defence, financial technology, skill development, and interpersonal ties.
The President also expressed her desire for increased cooperation between Singapore and India for the benefit of both nations’ citizens.
In a letter to his counterpart Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his appreciation for the robust, wide-ranging, and comprehensive strategic cooperation between India and Singapore.
The Act East Policy places Singapore in a pivotal position and Singapore continues to be a key partner for India in its engagement with the larger Indo-Pacific region, according to PM Modi.
In particular, he expressed confidence in the establishment of the India-Singapore ministerial Round Table as a means of identifying new growth engines to propel the bilateral relationship.
In addition, PM Modi conveyed his appreciation for Singapore’s active involvement in the G20 this year as a Guest Country and said he looked forward to continuing support in accomplishing our G20 Presidency’s main goals.
