BJP has launched its mega Jan Raksha padayatra in Kerala. The yatra began from Kannur today. It was led by BJP’s Kerala state president Rajasekharan, earlier today while addressing a rally, the BJP president launched a scathing attack on Kerala’s Left govt. Demanding justice for the murdered workers, Shah said that Kerala’s CM has blood on his hands. In yet another twist, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will be joining Shah in Kerala tomorrow.
Sasikala’s emergency parole plea to visit her ailing husband has been rejected by jail superintendent Somashekar. Her advocates had applied for parole along with the medical certificate of her husband. Superintendent Somashekar has cited inadequacies in the application and sought more details and affidavits. He has asked the council to make the fresh application. The affidavits once made will be scrutinised with the help of Tamil Nadu police, which will press the jurisdictional police to verify the claims in the application. Which means, the process will begin all over again and Sasikala is unlikely to be out on parole anytime soon.
The Supreme Court has said that it will examine whether the Kerala high court can annul a marriage while hearing a plea by the parents of a girl who had married a boy from a different religion. In the case of Akhila Ashokan, a 24-year-old medical student from Kottayam district who converted to Islam and changed her name to Hadiya in July 2016, the Kerala high court confined her to her parents’ home and annulled her marriage in may 2017. The supreme court in August asked the national investigation agency to inquire into the possibility of a terror conspiracy. Hearing the plea of Hadiya’s husband the sc stated that father cannot be seen dictating the personal life of a 24-year-old daughter. Supreme Court asks if the high court can annul the marriage in a habeas corpus petition? Hearing in the matter has been adjourned to October 10th.
