Separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik have given a call for a Dilli chalo movement claiming they will present themselves before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Delhi on September 9 and even court arrest. Why? They claim the NIA has unleashed terror in every nook and corner of Kashmir and that this is the only way to end it.
And so the govt must now keep the gates of Tihar jail open for them. Why this gimmick now, you might ask. Well, this comes on a day when the country’s premier terror investigating agency raided 20 locations in the Kashmir valley – 7 in Delhi and searched the premises of 6 businessmen in connection with “illegal funding” from across the border and hawala operations aimed at fuelling unrest and violence in Jammu and Kashmir. The NIA is also questioning Abdul Qayoom, the President of the J&K High Court Bar Association, also known to be a close aide of Geelani.
In recent weeks the NIA has also arrested 7 separatist leaders in this case. Remember this is the first time since the rise of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir in the early 1990s that a central probe agency has conducted raids in connection with the funding of terrorist and separatist groups.
The question we’re asking is, just who has unleashed terror in Jammu and Kashmir? Is it the NIA or these Pakistani agents who live in India but speak Pakistan’s language and do its bidding all the time? Are the separatists now clearly feeling the heat thanks to this NIA crackdown? And is it time to go after the big fish in the terror funding network and slap harsher charges on them including sedition for their patently anti-India activities?
