Scissor-happy Pahlaj Nihalani- the man who preached Indian culture and values – during his stint as the censor board chief, is back in the headlines once again. This time over his comeback movie – Julie 2 – that would not have been cleared without cuts if he possibly had still been the CBFC chief.
Widely criticised for his ‘sanskari’ take on movies including Udta Punjab and Lipstick Under My Burkha, Pahlaj is now in the eye of a storm over his double standards. His upcoming adult family film – Julie 2 – is a sequel to the 2004 Neha Dhupia starrer erotic film – Julie.
For a man who had objected to the use of the word intercourse in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal, it seems now that skin isn’t sin anymore. He incidentally is the same man who couldn’t let James Bond kiss in front of the Indian audience.
Vehemently defending his sanskari stand, Pahlaj says Julie 2 should be given an ‘A’ certificate without any cuts. The film’s trailer has been uploaded on YouTube and has so far garnered over 5 million views with its bold content.
Let us take a look at the report before we get down to the debate.
