Lucknow: Two people died on Wednesday in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh and a few others fell ill after allegedly consuming spurious liquor served to lure voters in the gram pradhan’s election, police said.
Police said the incident took place in Lodhiava village in Bagahi. Amethi is the parliamentary constituency of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.
Soon after many villagers took ill after consuming liquor, senior district officials rushed to the village and got them admitted in a nearby medical facility, where two people were declared dead.
