NEW DELHI:  After the horrific Uber incident, another abduction case by a taxi driver has been reported in the national capital. A woman in Delhi who was kidnapped for 15 minutes by a cabbie was allegedly sexually assaulted on Thursday night.

According to the police sources, the woman hired the taxi in South West Delhi and driver of the cab then took woman to a secluded place and claimed to fix a mechanical issue in the car. 

The cabbie then allegedly tried to assault the woman in the rear seat, sources add and informed that he drove away with her inside after she resisted and he started to panic. 

A passerby after hearing the woman crying and screaming for help noted the driver and phoned the police which sent a team to locate the cab. The accused has been arrested.

The women safety in Delhi especially using taxi services have been in limelight since December after a 27-year-old was raped by a cab driver of an app-based service Uber. The driver of the case has been arrested and is being tried by a fast-track court.
