PATNA: At least 32 people have died and around 100 have been injured in a storm that lashed Purnia, Madhepura and several other districts of Bihar late Tuesday night.

A compensation of Rs.4 lakh each to the families of those killed in the powerful storm has been announced by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. 

Kumar also claimed of visiting all the affected districts personally to assess the damage and loss caused by the calamity. 

According to Vyasji, principal secretary to state disaster management department Bihar, at least 25 people have been killed in Purnia, six in Madhepura and at least two have been killed in the Madhubani district.

Vyasji also stated that storm has caused extensive harm to more than thousands of buildings in Madhepura, Purnia, Saharsa, Katihar, Kishanganj, Darbhanga and Madhubani districts.
