MUMBAI: In a shocking incident caught on camera, a 22-year-old Afzal Beg is allegedly beaten and killed by the group of men on Monday at Malad East in Mumbai.
A 22-year-old Amol Ghuge, the son of a policeman, is among the group of men which are six in the number who have been arrested for murder of the youth. The arrests were made after 24 hours of the shocking incident which was caught in the CCTV footage.
According to the reports, Afzal and his friend were riding the motorcycle, while the attackers stopped them and allegedly dragged off and started beating him. His friend anyhow freed himself and fled away.
The men kept beating Afzal until he stopped making any movement and then the accused ran away, said a police official.
The Kurar police received information from a local resident and rushed to the spot. The bleeding Afzal was taken to the Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali. Later, he died in the hospital on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Afzal’s friend, after questioning by the police, disclosed the names of the accused that he knew.
The accused Amol and the others had fled to Nashik after committing the crime. A team of officers was sent to Nashik.
However, Ghuge, Siddharth Javrash, 21, Vishal Atkale, 23, Vikas Gadhve, 22 and Jaipal Suryavanshi, 24, were arrested from Ghoti in Nashik. One more accused, Avinash Ambekar, not arrested yet is wanted in the case.
