GUWAHATI: The Guwahati – Siphung Express on Saturday derailed in Kokrajhar district of Assam in which engine driver and some passengers were injured.
The accident occurred about 6 am at Basugaon in Kokrajhar district of Assam when the engine of the train was crossing a bridge, said reports.
According to the reports, five passenger bogies have been derailed due to a tree lying on the track near Champa Bridge, said North-East Frontier Railway spokesperson, Jayanta Sarma.
Injured engine driver was admitted to a hospital and passengers with minor injuries were given first aid, said Sharma, adding due to the accident, the railway tracks were blocked and other trains might be delayed.
Following the incident, police and railway officials have rushed to the spot.
