Aboobaker Siddik, Popular Front of India's (PFI) district secretary for Palakkad, was detained on Monday in connection with the slaying of an RSS leader.

Aboobaker Siddik, Popular Front of India’s (PFI) district secretary for Palakkad, was detained on Monday in connection with the slaying of an RSS leader.

He was reportedly engaged in compiling the list of targeted lawmakers, according to the police, along with a number other PFI employees. These figures belonged to the Indian Union Muslim League’s Youth League, the CPI(M), and the BJP (IUML).

Sreenivasan, an RSS employee, was killed earlier on April 16 by being hacked to death. Police believed it to be retribution for the assassination of Subair, a PFI employee, the previous day.

To look into the two instances, the Police set up special investigative teams under the direction of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order. In the earlier case, more than 13 PFI members were detained.
