Slapping a big competition to its key rival iPhone 6 and 6 plus by Apple, Samsung Mobile on Monday released its two latest editions in smartphones category, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in India.
Galaxy S6 Edge with curved screen on two sides is aggressively priced by the company at Rs. 58,900 (32GB), Rs. 64,900 (64GB) and Rs. 70,900 (128 GB); while Galaxy S6 costs Rs. 49,900 (32GB), Rs 55,900 (64GB) and Rs 60,900 (128GB).
While the latest entries from Samsung will hit the Indian stores on April 10, pre-booking for both the models have started today.
Samsung continues its experiment of curved screen on the side with Galaxy S6 which started last year with Galaxy Note edge, however, the slant is visibly smaller that than that of Galaxy Note edge.
One of the biggest upgrades initiated by the company so far with Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge is that the two smartphones have glass backs and metal frames on the side. The company claims that the metal used by them is 50 % stronger than the materials their rivals use.
The newest property from Samsung boasts of 5.1 inch SuperAMOLED screen (1440x2560p resolution), that makes it the highest pixel density smartphone in the world.
What makes Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge 35% faster than its predecessor? The answer is the 64-bit 2.1GHz octa-core Exynos 7 processor based on 14nm process used by the company. Interesting! Isn’t it? Well, if this does not sound enough, there is another thing one can relish with this newest smartphone in the market. It is the first time that Samsung has not used a Qualcomm processor in its flagship smartphone.
Apart from this, Samsung has declared that it is stepping away from the industry-standard DDR3 RAM to DDR4 RAM with the new Galaxy S models boosting the running memory by up to 80%.
According to the reports, Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will come with faster flash storage reducing lag between actions majorly and the brand is giving the two smartphones in 32, 64 and 128 GB storage variants, with no microSD storage option.
Samsung has given a much bigger upgrade to the front camera this time placing a 5MP f1.9 lens, which lets in 60% more light and therefore producing much brighter and clearer photos. Also, it comes with a real-time HDR and mode that puts together multiple images to create a bag of better pictures.
On the other hand, the resolution for the rear camera remains constant at 16MP but gets 1.9 aperture and optical image stabilization which indicates that the camera will be free to take shake-free and brighter pictures.
Even if you charge your phone for 10 minutes, the battery for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will last for four hours, as claimed by the company. Not only this, it will also take half of the time as iPhone 6 to charge from zero to 100%.
In first of the Samsung Galaxy S range, the battery of the two phones will not be removable.
