Asus has finally launched successor in its Zenfone series, Asus Zenfone 2, priced from Rs. 12,999 to Rs. 22,999 on Thursday. The newest phone from the company is officially available only through Flipkart.
Asus Zenfone 2 was first unveiled at CES 2015 and was not available in India until now.
Moreover, five variants in total have been launched; out of which only three are available for Indian market.
Even though the variants are different in processor, most of the things are still common – exactly same built, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front facing camera, 5.5 inch 1080 x 1920 pixels (~403 ppi pixel density) screen, 3000 mAh battery, LTE support, dual sim slots and runs on Android Lollipop out of the box.
Three models launched in India:
1. ZE551ML (with 4GB RAM) – Powered by the 64-bit 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor. Available in 32 GB and 64 GB models priced at Rs 19,999 and Rs 22,999 respectively.
2. ZE551ML (with 2GB RAM) – Powered by the 64-bit 1.8 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3560 processor. Available only in 16GB storage, and is priced at Rs 14,999.
3. ZE550ML (with 2GB RAM) – Powered by the 64-bit 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z3560 quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM priced at Rs 12,999.
Asus has yet not launched the Asus ZenFone 2 ZE500CL (5 Inch display) and ZE551ML (with 2GB of RAM and 32 GB storage) in India.
While the share of Asus in Indian Smartphone market is not that much, the specs and pricing of Asus Zenfone 2 are likely to shake the ground of other competitors like OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, Micromax and other new players in India.
We have to wait and see how Asus Zenfone 2 performs in the Indian market and how capable is it to compete with others.
