New Delhi: Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications Ltd (R-Com), in a bid to rival Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd’s massive announcement, stated on Tuesday that R-Com was offering a voice plan of Rs 149 for all customers.

In the announcement, R-Com said, “The ‘149 Unlimited’ plan, available across the 2G, 3G and 4G technology platforms, is targeted at incentivizing 2G, 3G and 4G handset-owners across India to move to the R-Com network. Regardless of the type of feature phone or smartphone used, customers will get unlimited voice calling, including STD calls, to any phone on any network in India—plus 300 MB of data access on R-Com’s best-in-class 2G, 3G & 4G networks.”

The Rs 149 voice plan will also include 300MB internet data usage.

Mukesh Ambani created a storm on social media when he earlier introduced Reliance Jio to the public with free voice and data services to customers till 31st December. Even after the deadline, Reliance Jio has said that it will dole out cheap tariff to customers.

“Our new pioneering yet simple Unlimited Plan has the potential to trigger a paradigm shift in the way Indians recharge their mobile phones, creating a significant shift in the telecom market—as it moves away from the ‘Unit Rate’ charging regime to a ‘Single Recharge and Unlimited Usage’ regime,” said Gurdeep Singh, co-chief executive officer at R-Com.

Other telecom sectors like Bharti Airtel Ltd and Idea Cellular Ltd have been introducing new data tariffs for customers after the announcement.
