HMD Global’s first flagship of 2017, the much-awaited Nokia 8 has been launched in India on Tuesday. The phone is set to go on sale on October 14 and will be available on Amazon India as well as offline retailers.

Here is everything you must know about the phone:


Design: Talking about aesthetics, Nokia 8 has an aluminium body with a front-mounted scanner.  It features a 5.3inch display with 2560×1440 pixel resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Operating System: New Nokia phones run Android operating system. As far as Nokia 8 is concerned, it currently runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will be updated to Android 8.0 (Oreo) update later this year or sometime next year.

Camera: The new Nokia smartphone has 13 MP dual camera s with RGB and monochrome sensors. Both front and rear cameras of phone can record 4k video on their own.

Storage: The phone has 64GB of inbuilt storage, expandable via microSD cards (up to 256GB).

Other specifications: The smartphone features 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, USB 3.1 Type-C connectivity,  a 3.5mm headphone jack and is powered by 3090mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and a Type C connector.

Price and Availability: The device has been priced at Rs 36, 999 and will be available on both online and offline channels from October 14.

HMD Global has exclusive rights to develop and market Nokia branded feature phones, smartphones and tablets till the year 2024 against royalty payments to Nokia. The company had earlier this year released the Nokia 6, 5 and 3 smartphones. The new phone is likely to give competition to  OnePlus 5 and soon to be launched Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.
