In line with the Delhi municipal corporation’s anti-encroachment drive, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting his assistance.
He further alleged that the ongoing bulldozer operation in the national capital could evict 60 lakh people. He claimed that the BJP is ruining Delhi by extorting money from bulldozers.
He stated, “The BJP is planning to use bulldozers to demolish 60 lakh homes in Delhi. Unauthorized colonies account for 60 lakh of these homes. Each of these houses will be broken by the BJP. Apart from that, the BJP plans to demolish 3 lakh DDA houses if someone has extended the balcony or built any additional.”
Sisodia has further stated that the Aam Aadmi Party will fight the demolition campaign pertaining to which he has written to the Union Home Minister seeking his involvement.
Manish Sisodia also responded on AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan’s arrest by saying, “It is completely incorrect. This bulldozer action is opposed by every AAP member. The AAP rejects the BJP’s entire strategy and will not allow it.”
This follows the arrest of Aam Admi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan, who was demonstrating against the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) in the Madanpur Khadar neighborhood alongside locals on Thursday.
In protest of Amanatullah Khan’s arrest, his wife has called for a bandh.
The SDMC used bulldozers in various locations of West Delhi on Thursday, including the Vishnu Garden neighborhoods of Khyala and Chand Nagar. It had previously carried out a demolition drive in the Madanpur Khadar neighborhood, where residents had protested the SDMC’s move.
