On Thursday, Hyderabad Police said that drug dealers involved in the Sonali Phogat case are from Goa, but the primary suspect has yet eluded capture.

According to Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, CV Anand, “After an enquiry with all the drug consumers in our area, we got to know that their peddlers are Pritish Narayan and Adwin and both of them are from Goa.”

“Our team went to Goa and caught Pritish but were unable to arrest Adwin. During the Sonali Phogat case, the Goa Police named Adwin as one of the suspects. We got to know that all the peddlers involved in the case are from Goa only,” he added.

Additionally, Hyderabad Police allegedly refused to cooperate with Goa Police whenever they tried to contact them, according to CV Anand.

Sonali Phogat, 42, was declared dead on August 23 at the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa. The Goa Police commenced a murder investigation after post-mortem revealed that she had suffered blunt force injury.

The actor, who recieved fame with her TikTok videos, contested the 2019 Haryana election as a BJP candidate but lost to then Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi.

While Phogat’s family has suggested foul play may have been involved in her death, her teenage daughter Yashodhara has reiterated her family’s demand for a CBI probe into the case. “We want the CBI to look into this. We seek justice”, she said. Five people have already been detained by the Goa Police in connection with the inquiry.
