Mulayam Singh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, was laid to rest on Tuesday (October 11) in his ancestral home in the Uttar Pradesh village of Saifai. Hundreds of people came to pay their respects, and his son Akhilesh Yadav lighted the cremation pyre.
At 82 years old, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh passed away on Monday at a Medanta hospital in Gurugram, Haryana. On Monday evening, his body landed at Saifai village in the Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh.
Among those who paid respect to the leader were Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
