Manchester: Spanish football club Real Madrid wants to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea next season, a club spokesman said on Monday.
The 25-year-old was heavily linked with the Spanish giants last summer but the move failed to materialise and de Gea penned a four-year contract with United which reportedly has a 36 million pound release clause.
“Real Madrid will not attempt to sign David de Gea in the January window. But the club is proposed to sign him in the summer for next season,” a club spokesman was quoted as saying by telegraph.co.uk.
The Spaniard signed for United in 2011 from Atletico Madrid where he had joined as a youth player when he was just 13. He debuted for Atletico in 2009.
David de Gea currently plays for Manchester United whose coach, Louis van Gaal, is said to be resigning soon over the poor performance of the club in recent matches.
