Spain: Bayern Munich’s star midfielder Xabi Alonso has said that if Jose Mourinho does sign up as Manchester United’s manager for the next season, football fans should expect a number of big-name signings. Alonso played under the Portuguese at Real Madrid.
Former Chelsea manager and currently out of job, Mourinho has been strongly linked to Manchester United’s managerial position for the upcoming season. The Reds have been under a lot of criticism with Dutchman Louis van Gaal at the helm.
Rumours of lining up Paris Saint Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gareth Bale from Real Madrid have been strong too.
About Mourinho, Alonso said that the manager goes all out to get his way at clubs, including big name signings which the world saw when he re-joined Chelsea in June 2013.
Alonso said, “Mourinho is 100 per cent competitive and wants to win every time.”
“He stirred up the players, the club, the fans and changed things in addition to making us compete,” added the Madrid number 14.
Only time will tell whether or not the rumours come to life, but if they do, Manchester United fans will have a lot of things to look forward to.
