Spain: Luis Suarez produced yet another scintillating performance as he netted four goals for the second game in a row to put Barcelona back to the top of the La Liga table after Atletico briefly held the spot with a win over Malaga. The Catalans destroyed 18th placed Sporting Gijon 6-0 at Camp Nou on Sunday.

Lionel Messi started it all with a brilliant header over Gijon keeper in the 13th minute. There was no looking back since then.

Suarez then double his side’s lead in the 63rd minute before converting two penalties in a span of three minutes. By the 77th minute, Barca led 4-0.

Neymar, who, until the 85th minute was having an outing he would want to forget, converted from the spot after Ognjen Vranjes was shown a second yellow card for nudging the Brazilian in the box.

Suarez returned to the score sheet with an 88th minute goal set up by Messi.

With his four goals in the match, Suarez went past Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest scorer this season, taking his tally to 34, three more than the Real Madrid winger.

Barca now lead the La Liga table with Atletico at second (with the same points) bases on their head to head record this season. Real continue to breathe down their necks with just a one point deficit.
