London: Australian controversial tennis star Nick Kyrgios edged past fourth seed Stan Wawrinka in straight sets to advance to the third round of the Madrid Masters on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old recorded a 7-6, 7-6 win over Wawrinka in a pulsating second round contest that lasted one hour and 45 minutes, the Guardian reported.
Last year, Kyrgios was handed a 28-day ban along with a fine of 25,000 dollars for making lewd remarks about Wawrinka’s girlfriend during their match at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
