Barasat: Mohun Bagan ripped through Salgaocar FC 4-0 in the return leg to reach the semi-final of the Federation Cup football tournament. The second leg scoring aggregated to an embarrassing 7-2 in favour of Bagan.

Sony Norde retuned after an injury lay-off to score twice while Captain Katsumi Yusa and Jeje Lalpekhula found the net once, each.

The Mariners emerged victorious on a 3-2 margin in Goa in the first-leg of the quarter-final on Monday. Their semi-final opponent in the home and away leg semis on May 8 and 15, respectively, are Shillong Lajong.

Norde struck in the extra time of the first half after a spending run towards the Salgaocar box to send a well collected through ball past the incoming Salgaocar goalkeeper Karanjit Singh. Yusa’s patience had reaped rewards for his team in the 25th minute, putting the Marines 2-0 up at half-time.

Soon after the second half began, the Haitian’s class was on display yet again for everyone to witness as he beat Nicolau Colaco and surged across the 18-yard box to send a curling shot into the back of the net.

Salgaocar too, had their chances but failed to convert. Captain Darryl Duffy headed one into the crossbar before Jackichand Singh emulated the same in the same minute.

Jeje then completed the rout with a solo effort to beat Karanjit.
