New Delhi: Former Indian skipper and current President of the CAB and President of the Editorial Board with Wisden India, Sourav Ganguly on Thursday hit out at former cricketer and director for the Indian cricket team Ravi Shastri saying Shastri refused to be the batting coach and wanted to be the head coach of team India.
A couple of weeks ago, Ravi Shastri, lost out to Anil Kumble in the race for the position of the coach of the Indian cricket team. On being asked why former captain Sourav Ganguly walked out when he was being interviewed, Shastri said it was Ganguly who needed to answer that and not him.
Shastri said, “All I can say is that Ganguly wasn’t there when I was interviewed and you should ask what problem Ganguly has with me instead of asking me.”
Ganguly while replying to Shatri’s remark had said, “He was very upset over the statement made by Ravi Shastri.”
“If Shastri thinks I was behind the appointment of Kumble as the coach and not him, then he is living in a fool’s world,” Ganguly had said.
During the process of selecting Team India’s coach, it was reported that Ravi Shastri and Anil Kumble were both favourites for the position.
