MUMBAI: Chennai Super Kings Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was fined 1o% of his match fee for making an inappropriate public comment in relation to an umpire’s decision on Wednesday during the first qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

During the post-match presentation ceremony after CSK lost the match against MI by 25 runs, MS Dhoni tagged Umpire Richard Illingworth’s decision as ‘horrible’ referring Dwayne Smith’s dismissal as LBW.

The 33-year-old Captain said at the ceremony, “We lost momentum in the middle and not to forget Smith got a horrible decision.”

Opener Smith was adjudged LBW in the first over but replays indicated that ball went down the leg side by a substantial margin.

Dhoni admitted the level 1 offence and accepted the sanction, said reports.

CSK will meet the winner of the Eliminator between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday in Ranchi in the second qualifier of the IPL 2015.
