New Delhi: There was a shroud over the interpretation of altercation between Lionel Messi and an unspecified individual at the tunnel during the Barcelona versus Manchester City match. However, the speculations seem to have ended finally.
Mikel Arteta, a former Arsenal player who now coaches Manchester City in Pep Guardiola’s squad, was heard by a Spanish TV shouting ‘asshole’ at the Barcelona player.
According to the channel, these were Arteta’s actual words, “What are you waiting for? Go and get changed, asshole.”
Messi, who was enraged at the comment, evidently replied, “Idiot, come over here, don’t run off and hide!”
Arteta, who is 35-years-old, retired this summer from Arsenal to work as coach in Manchester City. He was present at the match at Etihad Stadium where Manchester City defeated Barcelona 3-1.
