Swimming in the deep end seems to be a constant for last year’s Premier League champions Leicester City after they suffered a 2-0 loss against Swansea City on Sunday.
Swansea’s Alfie Mawson and Martin Olsson gave a commanding lead to Swansea in a game where the foxes retreated more than they needed to.
Leicester is just one point above the relegation zone and is the only club in the top four English divisions without a league goal in 2017.
However, for Swansea, the victory means an enormous lift in the Premier League. Swansea has witnessed resurgence under new head coach Paul Clement.
“Unbelievable. We started well. We wanted to make a good result against another team near the relegation zone. We make something good but the first shot on goal they score and then the second again. From there it was very difficult to get back,” Leicester coach Claudio Ranieri said after the match.
“Our mind is on the Premier League. The FA Cup and Champions League is something different. We want to play well and be safe in the Premier League. Our main target is to be safe in the Premier League,” he added.
