Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his first hat-trick in United colours on Thursday as the Red Devils beat French side Saint-Etienne 3-0 in their Europa League last-32 match at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Interestingly, the tie also brought the Pogba brothers together as Paul and Florentin Pogba faced one another for the first time in a competitive match.

Ibrahimovic scored his first when he stepped up and unleashed a low drive from the set-piece which took a wicked deflection of Vincent Pajot ending up at the back of the net in the 15th minute.

Jose Mourinho’s men went into the tunnel with a one-goal lead and were clearly the better of the two sides in the first half.

Later in the second half, the 35-year-old doubled his goal tally when Marcus Rashford made a great run forward and assisted him with a low pass for an easy tapping in the 75th minute of the game.

The Swedish veteran round of another successful night at Old Trafford when he converted the 87th minute penalty after firing a low shot into the bottom corner and putting the French side out of their misery  at the Theatre of Dreams.

United will now be in a commanding position when they travel to Saint-Etienne next week with 3 goals advantage.
