Zinedine Zidane’s side came out on top once again with a 2-0 win over Espanyol on Saturday in their La Liga match at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.

Spanish striker Alvaro Morata opened the scoring for the Whites with a sublime header through an inch-perfect cross from midfielder Isco in the 33rd minute of the game.

Later in the second half, Morata was replaced by Gareth Bale who made his return from an ankle injury for the final 19 minutes.

The Welsh wizard wasted no time as he marked his return with a trademark Bale run and finished off in style to round off a rapid Madrid counterattack.

Madrid’s second in the 83rd minute was also set up by Isco, this time he played the ball in behind Espanyol defence and the Welshman latched on his fantastic through ball with a clever finish across the goalkeeper.

Bale, who absolutely thrilled Madrid fans with his return, conveyed his high spirits on Twitter:

With this win Real Madrid find themselves 4 points ahead of second place Barca, who will face Leganes on Sunday at Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona.
