The first UEFA Champions League meeting between Manchester city and Monaco on Tuesday turned out to be an absolute goal fest as Pep Guardiola’s men claimed a thrilling 5-3 win over Leonardo Jardim’s side at the Etihad stadium.

The night began with a Raheem Sterling opener for City in the 26th minute after fine work was done by German international Leroy Sane, who was also adjudged the man of the match.

The poacher extraordinaire, Radamel Falcao, soon levelled pegging with a sublime header after City goalkeeper Caballero failed to play out the ball from the back. Fabinho was the one with the assist.

While reaching the end of the first half, the visitors started a turnaround of their own with quick thinking from Fabinho, who provided a long ball over the top of the City defence allowing Mbappe to finish into the top left corner.

City were back on level terms in the 58th minute when Sterling released Aguero into the box as his speculated shot eventually went past Subasic.

The rejuvenated striker Falcao, rolled back to his best when he tussled through City defenders and chipped past Caballero to put the French side back in front in the 61st minute of the game.

The never ending see-saw battle saw Guardiola’s City emerge victorious when they equalised through Aguero from a Silva corner in the 70th minute and ultimately completing the turnaround with two more goals from John Stones and Leroy Sane as the sensational tie at the Etihad came to an exhilarating end.
