Ace shooters and Olympians, Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu have successfully bagged gold in the mixed team event at ISSF Shooting World Cup 2017.
Jitu Rai who recently participated in the Rio Olympics 2016, is the only shooter to clinch gold at the 2014 Asian Olympic Games at Incheon and has several World Cup medals to his credit.
On bagging the gold at ISSF World Cup Jitu during an exclusive chat with NewsX said, “I’m honoured to have won this medal. The best moment was to see the Indian flag fluttering high in the air. This platform has given me a good experience and has undoubtedly marked the perfect beginning”.
On his partnership with Heena Sidhu, Jitu added, “Heena is a very good player and has won many medals too. For the first time we have played in a mixed event but this turned out to be a perfect match”.

Recently awarded with the most prestigious Khel Ratna Award, Jitu Rai credited the Indian Army and Sports Ministry for all his achievements. Hailing from a small village in Nepal Jitu adds, “I would have been a shepherd if I wouldn’t have joined the Indian army. It has given me all the facilities and mental space to learn and grow. The Sports Ministry has also kept its best foot forward towards equipping us that has made me what I am today. ”
While many of the athletes win laurels for the country, this young chap works hard for his village and contributes every month towards its development. Yes, he could be called the man with a ‘Heart of Gold’.
Jitu Rai has promised his fans a medal in the next Olympics for the country. “I promise to bring the Olympic medal next time. The support of the Indian Army, Sports Ministry and my fans keeps me going, and today I have achieved all this because of my fans and supporters”, echoes Olympian Jitu Rai.
