Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, India’s spin twins, and the duo which scripted a fine 75-run win against Australia to level the four Test series at 1-1, are on cloud nine.
Jadeja, with his seven wicket haul in the second Test moved a slot higher to share the top spot in the ICC Test rakings with Ashwin.
The left arm spinner played a vital role in the low scoring Test, scalping 6 for 63 in the first innings to restrict Australia from garnering a big lead over the hosts.
Ashwin who finished with eight wickets in the match shattered a few records on his way. Ashwin went past another spin legend Bishan Singh Bedi’s tally of 266 Tests wickets. He now stands at 269 wickets in 47 Tests.
Ashwin also became the fastest ever to 25 five-fors in the longest format. Richard Hadlee took 62 Tests while Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan achieved the feat in 63 Tests.
The last time two bowlers shared the top position was back in 2008 when South Africa’s Dale Steyn and Muralitharan shared the spot.
