Roger Federer wrote his name in the history books on Sunday as he claimed his 8th Wimbledon honour, and took his Grand slam count to 19. The Swiss ace down Marin Cilic in straight sets 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 in the finals to become the oldest Wimbledon Champion at the age of 36.

On Sunday when Federer took charge at the Centre court, whole world waited eagerly for the 36 year old to clinch the trophy. The 19 time Grand Slam winner not only won his 19th title but did it in style without dropping a set throughout the tournament. Fans around the world waited for the moment to see their Champion get crowned, and the fan-lot also included some of the biggest names in the sporting fraternity.

Several footballers, cricketers and other athletes celebrated Federer’s victory on social media and honoured the champion with praise.
