Recently promoted Newcastle will lock horns with Mauricio Pochettino’s resolute Tottenham side on Sunday at St James’ Park in their Premier League season opener.

Tottenham have lost Kyle Walker among their first teamers while the rest of the squad, which secured runners-up position last season, remains intact.

The White Hart Lane outfit was incredibly consistent and produced magnificent displays week in week out throughout the 2016-17 campaign.

There are no suspensions in Tottenham’s squad but two long-term absentees in Erik Lamela and Danny Rose will miss out on the game due to ongoing recovery from injuries.

All eyes will be on Harry Kane who is just one strike short from a century of goals. He has scored 99 goals in 165 games while donning the Tottenham jersey.

On other hand, Newcastle under the tutelage of Rafael Benitez has come back from the second division of the English football and will be hoping to kick-start their Premier League season on a high note.

Benitez is a master tactician and will try to contain the high-flying Hotspurs, hoping at least a point from the game.

Most of Newcastle’s top mainstays will feature in the starting line-up on Sunday and their last year’s top scorer Dwight Gayle is fit for the game and will spearhead the Magpies attack.

Although there is a stark contrast in the talent of players available to the managers of the two sides, but Benitez’s experience in Premier League and nerves up ahead in the game surely equates the two sides.
