Jamaica legend Usain Bolt suffered an injury midway in his anchor leg of the men’s 4×100 metres relay and pulled out of the last race of his career at the World Athletics Championships on Saturday.

Bolt, who suffered his first 100 meter defeat in nine years on August 5, apparently had a pulled leg only 30 metres into the race. He limped to the finish line in agony and was taken away in a wheelchair.

The master sprinter left the final championship of his 13-year-long career with only a bronze from the individual 100m run. The incident has shaken his fans all over the world and has been called unfortunate and sad.

Here we bring you some of the best quotes by the sprinting legend Usain Bolt:

“I have broken every record there is to break, in every event I have ever done. For me, I have proven myself since I was 15. I have shown I was always going to be great. I am confident in myself and my team, the people I work with. And I know I am clean.” ‘’A lot of legends, a lot of people, have come before me. But this is my time.’’

‘’I love competing. I am so competitive. I definitely need to win because I hate losing. I am the type who if I know I will lose I won’t compete.’’
