Champion athlete and sprinter Usain Bolt is all set to make his football ‘debut’ for his all-time favourite club Manchester United. The 30-year-old Jamaican will grace the football pitch for the first time in a Manchester United shirt against Barcelona legends in a friendly game.
Bolt is a die-hard United fan and has always been open about his love for the English club. Recently before his final appearance at the World Championships talking to the reporters he joked that United manger Jose Mourinho should make a move and sign him this transfer window.
But now it seems his dream is finally going to come true as he is likely to line up with the likes of Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs for a charity match between Manchester United legends and Barcelona legends. The game is scheduled to happen on September 2 and the funds raised from the game will be donated to the Manchester United Foundation.
Bolt’s final confirmation for the game depends on his fitness as the former world champion saw a tragic end to his career as he stumbled in the final race of his career pulling his hamstring. If there is anything between Bolt and his dream United debut it’s his leg. If he is declared fit before the game then the eight-time Olympic gold medalist will have a chance to add a United goal to his glorious career.
The Jamaican will also have a lot of admirers in the Old Trafford stands from the current United dressing room, in players like Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford who are huge fans of the legend sprinter.
Recently Bolt also expressed his fan-side for Manchester United when he took to Twitter to reveal how he was delighted again after a rough week at the World Championships to see the Red Devils comfortably win their first game of the season. “After a rough week it’s good to see victory for Man Utd” wrote the former world champion on Twitter.
