Continuing their incredible spending spree this season, Everton has secured Gylfi Sigurdsson on a 5-year contract from Swansea for a staggering fee of 45 million euros. This is Toffees’ 7th major signing of 2017-18 summer transfer window.
Everton is on a rampage and clearly leaving no stone unturned to revamp their squad, effectively. Although the club has acquired the services of a host of top notch players but Sigurdsson is certainly a statement signing.
Overwhelmed by the fee his transfer commanded, Sigurdsson said, “If you look at the transfer market these days, it is crazy.”

Considering the inflated football transfer market of today, Gylfi Sigurdsson can prove to be worthy of every euro. The Iceland midfielder was phenomenal for Swansea last year, netting 9 and setting up further 13 goals in the Premier League alone.
He was a crucial figure in The Swans’ playing system but the club finished at 15th position last year in Premier League.
On other hand, Everton has done tremendously well with their transfer business securing Wayne Rooney, Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford, Sandro Ramirez, Davy Klaassen and host of others.
Speaking on Everton’s transfer dealings, Sigurdsson added, “I think [the club’s signings in the window] show a lot of ambition and of course I have been keeping an eye on the team and seeing how they have been getting on in the European qualifiers and first Premier League game.”
