NEW DELHI: After the unprecedented success of Cricket, Hockey, Football, Tennis and Kabaddi leagues, it is now the celebration time for sport of  Indian Wrestling as it is all set to go professional. Yes, it is Wrestling that will get the financial and morale boost as Managing Director of the iTV Network, Kartikeya Sharma is investing in the Pro Wrestling League which is set to grow up along the lines of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) and the Indian Super League (ISL).

WFI and Pro-Sportify announced the launch of Pro Wrestling League (PWL) at a glittering show in the national capital on Monday that was attended by Double Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar and Co. Famous rapper Apache Indian launched the theme song of the league as the grapplers, flanked by models, and walked the ramp.

An Oxford School pass out, Sharma has formed Pro Sportify, a company that is set to commence the Pro Wrestling League.

The company intends to expand in the sports leagues business not only nationally but across the globe and Kartikeya is confident that Pro Sportify will lead in a new era of business of sports in India.

“Our philosophy as a company reflects in our name – ‘Pro Sportify.’ Our approach to uplift and transform the sports will be thoroughly professional, but there will be no compromises with the basics and essence of the sports. We will also keep the culture and heritage of the sport intact. This philosophy will also reflect in our first venture Pro Wrestling League, which in spite of all commercial exploitation shall remain the real deal for sportsmen,” said Sharma.

Another stakeholder in the company is Ashish Chadha of a sports rights management company, Sporty Solutionz. He has established himself as a top sportspreneur with 360 degree proficiency in the sports business. 

“I thank Kartikeya from the core of my heart for his whole-hearted support for the cause of sports in India. 

Professionalism in any industry does not mean minting money. It’s about creating more opportunities for each constituent of that particular industry. That is what we are going to do in Pro Sportify. Betterment of sportspersons, more opportunities and positive gains to our associates and more excitement, fun and sporting innovations for the fans will be a continuous process in Pro Sportify,” said Chadha.

The likes of Sushil, Yogeshwar Dutt, Geeta Phogat, Babita would now compete against few of the best wrestlers of the world on the Indian soil at the PWL, that is scheduled to take place between November 8 and 29 across six cities.
