After a thumping 4-1 victory in the 5-match ODI series against Australia, Virat Kohli’s men are set to repeat the feat in the upcoming T-20 series which will get underway at the Jharkhand Cricket Association (JSCA) Stadium in Ranchi today. Ranchi will prove to be another morale booster for the hosts as the crowd will be on top to see their local hero and former Indian captain to produce something phenomenal against the Aussies. Meanwhile, Australians will come into the game without their captain Steve Smith who has returned back suffering a shoulder injury. However, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag believes India will have a difficult task at their bay in the T20 series naming three key Australian players who can be the obstacle in India’s road to victory.
In an interaction with a news channel, Virender Sehwag said that Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile and the explosive duo of David Warner and Aaron Finch can prove to be Australia’s match-winners and can clinch the game away from India. T20 games are short formatted and a single player can change the game in their team’s favour from any point, insisting on Australia’s T20 pedigree, Sehwag said, Both Warner and Finch have scored a century each in the ODI series and have gained their form back with good batting display against Virat Kohli’s men in the ODIs, Australia will be in a winning position if the two batsmen stay on crease for 15 overs at least. Talking about Coulter-Nile’s efficiency, he added that Indians will have to ensure they don’t give up wickets against the Australian pacer as he can prove to be a major threat and there is no other Australian bowler who can be as threatening as him.
Sehwag since retiring has been active in the commentary scene where he has gained more fans with his witty humorous talks and also he puts his vast cricketing knowledge in perspective when it comes to analysing the Indian team’s performance.
Stressing about the importance of spinners in the India’s playing 11, Sehwag suggested that India should field at least two spinners preferably Kuldeep Yadav and Yazuvendra Chahal who trouble Australia a lot in the recently concluded ODI series. The Chinaman was specifically a revelation as he went on to clinch a hat-trick in the 2nd ODI at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The former Indian cricketer said that Indian spinners can pile up pressure on the Australians and trouble them in the shorter format.
With the inclusion of veteran Ashish Nehra in the bowling department India will field a strong squad against the Australians to continue their winning streak in the T20 series and improve their ICC rankings.
