Rajasthan Royals have finally cleared the air over their home venues for IPL 2026. After weeks of uncertainty and behind-the-scenes discussions, the franchise has decided to play four of their home matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The breakthrough came after talks with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, which helped ease tensions and move things forward.

For some time, the Royals were exploring other options. Their relationship with the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) had become strained, with disagreements over stadium safety, match-day arrangements, and liability concerns. There were even reports of serious allegations being exchanged during the dispute. Because of this, the franchise began looking at alternate venues and held discussions with the Maharashtra Cricket Association about shifting games to the MCA Stadium in Gahunje, Pune.

However, after fresh meetings involving RR chairperson Ranjit Barthakur and other key officials, a middle ground was found. The team will now host four matches in Jaipur, while three games will be played in Guwahati, which has served as the Royals’ second home in recent seasons. Earlier plans had Jaipur hosting five matches and Guwahati two, but that arrangement has now been adjusted. The change means Assam, the home state of Royals captain Riyan Parag, will get an additional match this season.

Work is already underway to ensure the Sawai Mansingh Stadium is fully ready. The Rajasthan State Sports Council has begun repair and upgrade work to meet IPL standards. The venue recently hosted Vijay Hazare Trophy matches in January and attracted impressive crowds, especially during the game in which Rohit Sharma scored a century against Sikkim. That turnout was seen as a positive sign for the stadium’s readiness to stage high-profile matches again.

At one point, a move to Pune looked like a real possibility. Even defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru had reportedly inspected the MCA facility. But with the latest agreement in place, Rajasthan Royals have resolved their differences and committed to Jaipur as a major base for the upcoming season. With their home venues now confirmed, the Royals can shift their full focus to building momentum and preparing for IPL 2026.
