Srikant Tyagi, who is accused of threatening a lady in a Noida housing community, was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court on Thursday.
In a recent viral video, Tyagi was seen abusing and threatening a lady inside Noida’s Grand Omaxe Society, Sector 93, and has since been on the run. The Uttar Pradesh Police detained Tyagi close to Noida. However, the accused’s request for bail was turned down by the court earlier on August 11.
During an altercation, a woman who lives in Noida’s Sector 93B Grand Omaxe community has been accused of being abused and pushed by Tyagi, who had claimed to be a member of the BJP’s Kishan Morcha.
According to Noida Police, the FIR has been amended to include the provisions of IPC sections 323 (penalty for deliberately inflicting pain), 504 (intentional insult with purpose to incite breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 447 (punishment for criminal trespass).
Another case filed under Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) will also be heard by the court on August 16; the date has been set. On the same day, the court will also hear the cases of six other individuals connected to Tyagi’s case.
Earlier, while he was being led away from the court, Tyagi spoke to the media and stated that the woman he had attacked was like his sister and that the event was political and intended to destroy him politically.
