Srinagar Police detained a man on Saturday in connection with an incident of suspected desecration at a mosque in the city.
Quran was allegedly thrown into the river in a sacrilegious event at Khan Masjid Gojwara, according to the police. The event happened in a mosque in the Srinagar district’s Gojwara neighbourhood.
“Irshad Ahmad Mir, the accused, was captured during nocturnal operations in Maloora, Srinagar. The accused appeared to be mentally unstable, “police reported.
A case was opened in accordance with the pertinent laws at the Nowhatta police station. Further inquiry is going on.
