The Supreme Court cancelled the All India Quota Mop-Up round of counselling for National Eligibility Cumulative Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2021-22 admissions on Thursday in order to rectify the 146 seat irregularities.
A bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud decided that a special round of counselling for 146 new seats be held, and that students who had joined the All India Quota (AIQ) or the State Quota in Round 2 be permitted to participate in this round. The Supreme Court further ordered the Director-General of Health Services (DGHS) to solicit alternatives from students within 24 hours of publishing the new notification and to conclude the procedure within 72 hours following the options cut-off period.
The Court was hearing several applications filed by physicians wanting to participate in the NEET-PG 2021-22 mop-up round of counselling.
One of the petitions challenges the Medical Counselling Committee’s March 16 advice, which prohibits candidates from participating in the mop-up round of counselling for NEET PG Admissions if they have already secured seats under the State quota.
