In a bid to offer its customers some additional options, Kawasaki India has launched the 2027 version of the highly-rated Ninja 500 motorcycle in India. Priced at Rs 5.76 lakh, ex-showroom, the new model joins its predecessor MY26 variant in just two months after its launch in June this year without any changes mechanically, visually and pricing-wise save for a new color option.
Changes For The New Model Year
The most prominent change for the 2027 MY Ninja 500 is the Lime Green paint job that renews Kawasaki’s signature colorway in combination with white and blue graphics on the tank of the motorcycle. While the global range boasts multiple colors, Indians will have access only to this color. Everything else is exactly the same as for the MY26 model, including engine configuration, design of the motorcycle and all other components and features.
Engine And Mechanicals
In terms of under-the-hood mechanicals, the bike sticks to its existing 451cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 45 PS at 9,000 rpm and 42.6 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Alongside, there is a six-speed gearbox along with assist and slipper clutch system that makes handling of lever easier during normal rides and prevents locking up of rear wheel during aggressive downshifts. Also, with the launch of the new version, rumours about discontinuation of the bike from Indian market due to non-compliance with E20 fuel specifications have been debunked.
Chassis, Suspension And Braking
This Ninja 500 comes with a lightweight trellis frame, in line with the design concept of the premium Ninja H2, and tipping the scales at a mere 157 kg. Telescopic front forks and preload-adjustable monoshock rear suspension are the highlights of its suspension package. It rolls on 17-inch diameter wheels with Dunlop Sportmax tyres at both ends. The bike features a 310mm front disc brake combined with a 220mm rear disc brake along with dual-channel ABS.
Pricing And Competitors
Equipped with a price point of Rs 5.76 lakh without any change since the predecessor model, the upcoming Kawasaki Ninja 500 will continue to follow the CBU method of being marketed in India. The motorcycle will still compete with other sports bikes like Aprilia RS 457, Yamaha R3 and KTM RC 390 in the growing mid-range category of motorcycles. Bookings for the bike are currently open at Kawasaki Showrooms all across the country.
