A Reddit user has aired grievances about Samsung and its software update notifications, insisting on the need for adding an easy to use “not interested” button.
The Problem
The user has a Samsung Galaxy phone and says that, in itself, it’s not the problem. They love its design and enjoy using it. What has been annoying the user lately are update notifications. According to them, it seems impossible to turn them off permanently. When the phone has been configured the way they like it and when it runs on a specific version, it’s all fine. There’s no desire to upgrade anymore.
Accidental Upgrade
There is an update story that seems to have made the user write their post. In the late hours of the night, when they were very tired and somewhat distracted, they decided to accept an update notification. When they woke up the next morning, the phone was already updated and they had to spend the whole morning configuring it again in order to restore old settings and layout.
And Then Again
According to the user, just when they managed to restore everything back to normal, the phone sent yet another request to download an update. This, it seems, has made the user write their message, asking why do these requests keep popping up even when the user has already been through the process once.
A Problem That Resonates
Though it is just a personal experience, the complaint voiced by the user can definitely be shared by many other smartphone owners. Most people don’t really enjoy upgrading their phones constantly and prefer sticking to the version of their operating system that works well for them. Adding a button that would allow doing so seems to be a reasonable suggestion.
As of now, Samsung hasn’t commented on the post.
