Tiffany Haddish, an American comedian and actor, has spoken out in reaction to the child sexual assault lawsuit brought against her and comedian Aries Spears.
As per media sources, she turned to Instagram and stated, “I realise people have a lot of questions. I understand. I’m right by you. Unfortunately, due to an ongoing legal matter, there isn’t much I can say right now.”
“However, while this routine was clearly supposed to be comic, it was not funny at all – and I regret having agreed to appear in it. I truly want to be able to discuss a lot more about this scenario as soon as possible “She said.
An unnamed lady filed the complaint last week. It claims that Haddish and Spears took advantage of Jane Doe, now 22, and her brother John Doe, now 14, in two comedic skits shot while they were youngsters.
The woman and her younger brother were misled into participating in the acts as children. The movie, which included the brother, who was 7 at the time and was videotaped in his underpants, was titled ‘Through a Pedophile’s Eyes.’ The video featured Spears’ character pining over the youngster while listening to R. Kelly’s ‘Bump and Grind,’ and ended with the boy exhibiting interest in the man with the admonition “mind who you leave your kids with.”
Haddish plays the mother who frequently abandons her son with Spears for various reasons. The comedians’ video was deleted from Funny or Die in 2018, which described it as “extremely horrible.”
Media sources state, that Haddish’s attorney, Andrew Brettler, said Vanity Fair in a statement that the plaintiff’s mother, Trizah Morris, has “been trying to raise these fraudulent accusations against Ms Haddish for several years.”
He went on: “Every attorney who first took on the case – and there were several – eventually quit the case when it became evident that the charges were without foundation and that Ms Haddish would not be shaken down. Ms Morris is now represented in this action by her adult daughter. They will have to face the repercussions of their silly behaviour jointly.”
The announcement comes as Haddish, a longtime comic whose career exploded with the 2017 release of ‘Girls Trip,’ remains in high demand.
