WhatsApp Introduces Ticketing System For DTC Commuters Across Delhi-NCR

WhatsApp introduced a new QR ticketing service for DTC commuters in the Delhi NCR region on Wednesday, aiming to streamline the transit experience by enabling seamless booking and purchasing of tickets directly within the WhatsApp chatbot.

DTC is the first state bus network in the region to implement this solution, providing riders with convenient access to ticketing services. The service is accessible in both English and Hindi, and commuters can utilize it by sending ‘Hi’ to +91 8744073223 or scanning the QR code.

Currently, the WhatsApp chatbot allows commuters traveling on DTC and DIMTS routes to book single journey QR tickets. For frequent riders on the same route, the chatbot offers a quick purchase feature, reducing the time spent selecting the destination and starting point within the chatbot interface.

Using the WhatsApp-based ticketing system, each rider can purchase a maximum of six tickets per transaction directly through their preferred UPI payment option within the chat window.

Ravi Garg, Director, Business Messaging, Meta in India, said, “Each day, millions of commuters rely on local transport services for their daily commutes. We are delighted to introduce the DTC chatbot, which aims to redefine the travel experience and offer streamlined and efficient transit solutions for commuters across the Delhi NCR region. The introduction of DTC’s QR ticketing service through WhatsApp represents a significant stride in enhancing the customer experience, offering a more sophisticated and intelligent approach to local travel.”

The interface offers a user-friendly and interactive experience, empowering commuters to plan their transit seamlessly while on-the-go. This collaboration marks a significant advancement for industries like public transportation, as accessible technologies such as WhatsApp contribute to enhancing customer satisfaction.

Last year, WhatsApp joined forces with Delhi Metro to extend the WhatsApp-based ticketing experience to all Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram Rapid metro routes, providing metro riders with a convenient method for booking tickets.
