Military thwarts LoC infiltration, neutralizes terrorists, seizes arms; Indian Army confirms.

On Monday, the military successfully neutralized two terrorists and prevented an infiltration effort along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Balakot sector of Poonch district. According to officials, the armed forces also seized a significant cache of weapons and supplies, which included an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 30 rounds of ammunition, two hand grenades, and medicine of Pakistani origin. This information was conveyed in an official statement by the Indian Army.

“Intelligence inputs received from multiple intelligence agencies and police revealed the presence of terrorists waiting across the LoC to enter from the Balakot sector,” it stated.

During the morning of Monday, soldiers identified two terrorists who were trying to cross the Line of Control (LoC) in the Hamirpur region of the Balakot sector. The terrorists were capitalizing on unfavorable weather conditions, heavy fog, dense vegetation, and uneven terrain to aid their movement, as per the sources.

“As the terrorists approached the ambush, they were challenged and then engaged with effective fire. This forced the terrorists to flee from the ambush site. However, firing resulted in one terrorist falling on the ground near the LoC,” it read.

Extra forces were subsequently deployed to the region, and on Monday afternoon, search operations were initiated as the weather conditions improved and visibility improved. The official statement also noted that while searching, blood trails were identified, indicating movement toward the Line of Control (LoC).

“As per intelligence Inputs, the two terrorists who attempted to infiltrate were injured due to fire from their troops but still managed to return across the LC and later they succumbed to their injuries. Own troops continue to remain on alert and maintain vigil to foil any attempts of infiltration,” it added.
