UP Govt bans sale and purchase of meat on the Kanwar yatra route

Ahead of the Kanwar Yatra, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a ban on the sale and purchase of meat in the open along the Yatra route. The decision was made to respect the religious sentiments of the Kanwar devotees and ensure cleanliness and sanitation along the route.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed preparations for law and order and facilities for devotees during upcoming festivals, including Shravan and the traditional Kanwar Yatra. The CM emphasized the need for constant vigilance and caution during this sensitive period.

Additionally, arrangements for drinking water and quality checks of food items at food camps were emphasized.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued several directives regarding the upcoming festivals and events, including the Kanwar Yatra. CM Adityanath emphasized the need for maintaining law and order, respecting religious traditions and ensuring public safety. The measures taken to ensure this include prohibiting the sale and purchase of meat along the Kanwar Yatra route, marking designated places for animal sacrifices during Bakrid and ensuring systematic waste disposal after sacrifices. CM Adityanath urged dialogue with religious leaders and intellectuals to maintain harmony and avoid incidents that may hurt the sentiments of other communities.

Furthermore, CCTV cameras will be installed along the Yatra route. Additional police forces will be deployed in sensitive areas and foot patrolling will be conducted on a daily basis.

CM Adityanath also directed the administration to provide necessary facilities for the public during festivals and ensure a smooth electricity supply.

Health emergency services were instructed to be on high alert, with the availability of anti-venom and anti-rabies injections ensured. CM Adityanath emphasized the need for safe vehicles on the roads and health posts along the Kanwar Yatra route.

CM Adityanath called for coordinated action plans with local administrations in Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Sitapur to accommodate the increasing number of devotees during the two-month duration of the Shravan month. He encouraged dialogue with religious leaders and urged positive messages to be disseminated through the media.
